PNW Drupal Summit

At the recent PNW Drupal Summit held in Portland, Oregon, I attended a session by Jonathon Hedstrom about Drush Make. Here are my notes:

Drush Make is:

• used to make Drupal Distributions
• has site manifest including every version and patch
• easy for devs to quickly get up to speed on a project
• you can eliminate duplicate repositories
• encourages contributing back to the community

Only 3 weeks to go until the premiere event of the Pacific NorthWest Drupal Commnunity. The PNW Drupal Summit occurs Oct. 15 and 16 in Portland, Oregon and is proud to present many great speakers including 2 excellent keynotes.

On Oct. 15, Bibiana McHugh will officially announce the release of the Open Trip Planner (OTP) for the Portland metro area.  OTP is an open source, multi-modal trip planner that was developed in conjunction with TriMet, Open Plans, and several revolutionary developers.

First written Oct. 4, 2010: I think the highlight of the Summit for me was the DrupalChix BOF (Birds of Feather) held on Sunday afternon. About 12 women who work with Drupal met together for small group informal discussion. It was interesting to listen to each person’s intro as they told how they got started with Drupal.

I"m getting excited! The PNW Drupal Summit is only 10 days away! 240 Drupal users from all over the Pacific Northwest will be gathering in Vancouver on October 2 and 3rd. This year we have two keynote speakers: Angie Byron, will be speaking on "The Drupal Community: Where are we going and how can you get involved?" And Josh Koenig will be speaking on "Enterprise Drupal: Managing epic scope, scale and speed without losing your hair".

This year's Summit features two full days of workshops with 4 tracks: Development & Code, Design & Theming, Site Building and Administration, Business & Project Management. We also have small groups (called BoF- Birds of Feather) gathering for informal discussions on a variety of topics.
