On August 8th, 2011, I had the pleasure of visiting the
Bellingham Drupal User Group. I did some shopping at Bellis Fair mall and headed over to Bob's Burger and Brew pub for the meetup. I was glad to see Jennifer Dixey again. We met last October in 2010 at the PNW Drupal Summit in Vancouver.
We had a nice time chatting about what's new in Drupal 7. I'm working on building a single user blog with Drupal 7. It will be fun learning how to use the new Views interface. I have a client who would like to have a Drupal 7 website but they also need to have an events calendar. The Date module is working in Drupal 7 but the View that creates the
Full Calendar display is not yet ready. Hopefully, that will be available soon.
We commented on the fact that even though Drupal 6 was ready in Feb/March 2008, many developers did not start building production sites with it until September 2008. Drupal 7 has been out since January 2011, but I am just starting to build sites with Drupal 7. Views has become more stable and there are a lot more great looking Drupal 7 themes now available on drupal.org.
The
Seattle Drupal User group is having a presentation on Panels on August 18th. I would love to attend since I'm interested in learning more about panels. Both the Surrey and Vancouver Drupal meetups took a vacation in July but we will be meeting up again for a joint BBQ on August 25th. Sign up here:
